Take a Moment – Breathe

Jul 15, 2020

This reflection is from, ACPE* Certified Educator Willacin Precious Gholston, who serves at Methodist Health System in Dallas, Texas.  She wrote the following poem, “in honor of George Floyd and others like him.”

BREATHE

Breathe, my Son, Breathe.

Feel the loving embrace from those who know you,

and who fear not your existence.

Breathe, my Daughter, Breathe.

We affirm your brilliance and your being-ness.

We will not diminish your worth.

Breathe, o Mother, Breathe.

Cast the many burdens you carry upon us.

Your sobs have been heard in the distance.

Breathe, o Father, Breathe.

See your children carry on the legacy,

And the dreams you once deferred.

Breathe, my Colleague, Breathe.

Receive the care you unselfishly give to others.

May you find Rest, and not just sleep.

Breathe, my People, Breathe.

Take in the Breath of God’s presence,

And receive renewal for your soul.

BREATHE….

Inhaling and exhaling with you, the Chaplain Team at Chaplaincy Health Care

TAKE A MOMENT…
Several time a week, our chaplains send out a morning reflection via email to all Chaplaincy Health Care staff. These reflections have become a source of inspiration, support, comfort, laughter and sometimes tears. They are a valuable and welcome item in our inboxes. They keep us connected to each other, ourselves and to the divine spirit that connects us all. So, TAKE A MOMENT to enjoy these reflection posts. May they move you, support you, comfort you and remind you, even in this time of disconnection, we are all connected.
